Benefits Rotary International's Global Polio Eradication Initiative
RENO, NEV. (April 25, 2017) – Nevada’s oldest and most award-winning brewery is welcoming spring with an annual release party for Cerveza Chilebeso on taps and in bottles. The “fiesta” will feature 22-ounce bottles of Cerveza Chilebeso for sale, music by a local mariachi band, games and prizes, a taco bar, Chilebeso T-shirts and pint glasses
for sale, and the possibility of a real donkey showing up to party. It all happens from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Great Basin’s Taps & Tanks location on East McCarran Boulevard, between Mira Loma Drive and Rock Boulevard in Reno. The party also includes a raffle to raise money for Rotary International’s Global Polio Eradication
Initiative, committed to ending polio once and for all.
Cerveza Chilebeso is a unique, cream-style ale brewed with plenty of fresh jalapeño peppers infused at several intervals in the brewing process. The result is a crisp and refreshing beer with lots of chile flavor and just a kiss, or beso (the Spanish word for kiss) of spiciness from the peppers. The brew naturally pairs well with Mexican food, red
meat, Manchego cheese, and salads with dark, leafy greens.
Great Basin Brewing Company has entered Cerveza Chilebeso into the Great American Beer Festival® three times (1994, 1997, and 1999) and each time it was honored with a gold medal in the Herb & Spice Beer category. Owner and Brewmaster Tom Young says, “Chilebeso was one of the earliest commercial beers to be brewed using jalapeño peppers in the world. It’s also the only beer that’s won gold each of the three times it has competed in the Great American Beer Festival – a pure trifecta.” Chilebeso will soon be available in 22-ounce bottles, at their brewpubs and select retail locations after the release party.
For each pint of Cerveza Chilebeso purchased at the release party, Great Basin Brewing Company will donate $1 to Rotary International’s Global Polio Eradication Initiative – this worldwide project to eliminate polio through vaccinations is finally coming to near-fruition.
