Great Basin Brewing Company Wins Bronze for Outlaw Oatmeal Stout at the Great American Beer Festival®

RENO, Nev. (October 10, 2011) – Great Basin Brewing Company won the bronze medal for its Outlaw Oatmeal Stout at the Great American Beer Festival, which took place in Denver, Colorado September 29 to October 1, 2011. This year, the Great American Beer Festival judged 83 different beer categories based on parameters unique to each beer style. When judges decide a category contains three excellent examples of the style, they award gold, silver and bronze medals that are recognized around the world as symbols of brewing excellence. With more than 3,900 brews entered into the competition, these awards are among the most coveted in the industry. The 2011 event hosted more than 49,000 attendees, with tickets selling out within one week.

"We are honored to be among the 248 medals awarded at the festival this year. It shows how truly difficult this competition is,” said Bonda Young, owner of Great Basin Brewing Company. “Great Basin continues to bring to Nevada some of the best beers in America and we are very proud of that fact."

Great Basin Brewing Company’s Outlaw Oatmeal Stout has won several industry awards for excellence throughout the years, including silver medals from the World Beer Cup in 2008 and 2002. The winning brew will be celebrated at a special event at Great Basin Brewing Company:
